Maxted Road Lorry Park retains award for safety and security for seventh consecutive year
Maxted Road Lorry Park has retained the prestigious Park Mark award that recognises facilities with measures in place that actively deter crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities.
The lorry and transport park was first awarded in 2012 and has received the award every year since.
Based just a couple of minutes from the M1 and 10 minutes from the M25 there is a range of parking bays for 80 plus vehicles from small vans to articulated lorries. It is an official operating centre for commercial vehicles as advised by DVSA with 24 hour access 7 days a week by electronic tag only and CCTV hi-tech security surveillance.
David Furnell, owner and Chairman of the park said: “At Furnells, we feel that the addition of the prestigious Park Mark award shows that we take seriously the need to provide our lorry park customers with the very best service we can offer.”
A Park Mark is awarded to parking facilities that pass a rigorous risk assessment conducted by the police and the British Parking Association. The assessments include management and maintenance of the facility, ensuring that there are appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage and cleanliness. These criteria are known to reduce the opportunity for crime and create a safer environment for users and their vehicle.
Antony Powell, Safer Parking Scheme Area Manager said: “The owners and all members of staff at Furnells Maxted Road Lorry Park are to be congratulated for achieving Park Mark award for another year. This is an excellent, well designed and well managed facility. The Park Mark award demonstrates the company`s commitment to providing a secure environment to all of its customers and I congratulate everyone involved.”
Sophie Groombridge, Hertfordshire Design-out Crime Officer said: “I have made several visits to Furnells Lorry Park over the past 3 years. It is an excellent example of a well-managed and secure site.
“Crime prevention, security and safety are taken very seriously by the management and staff at Furnells and the lorry park has excellent surveillance including CCTV and access into the site is monitored. There is clear signage, including a help point which is situated at the front gate. The Park Mark award is definitely deserved.”
